Disciple Track

The book, Spiritual Discipleship” by J. Oswald Sanders is a renowned text that is readable, dynamic, and most importantly full of sound wisdom. Sanders begins by expounding on the Sermon on the Mount and goes on from there to pave the way for foundational discipleship principles. The following track is based on its contents, which I do not own, but I hope my layout and supplemental details are profitable for your discipleship endeavors.

TWENTY-ONE WEEKS

Week 1

Introductory meeting:

See the need for growth as a disciple in Christ and mutually agree upon a meeting structure and schedule together. Encourage each other authentically as you begin this process together.

Am I living like a disciple is to be according to the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12)?


Week 2

Meeting:

Review Chapter 1 “The Ideal Disciple”

Homework:

Prayer Prompt:

Are my affections, actions, and possessions all given over to Christ or am I holding back?


Week 3

Meeting:

Review Chapter 2 “Conditions of Discipleship”

Prayer Prompt:

Does the fruit of my life reflect an abiding inward, outward, and upward progress in following Jesus?


Week 4

Meeting:

Review Chapter 3 “Evidences of Discipleship”

Prayer Prompt:

Am I willing to commit to being a deliberate disciple of Christ, or will I fall into impulsive, reluctant, or halfhearted Christianity?


Week 5

Week 9

What is my purpose for life in the Potter’s hand? Am I resistant to that purpose or submissive to the Potter’s will?

Have I lost touch with God, given into the Accuser’s lies? If not God keep me steadfast in this state of being with you.


Week 19
